Groom for Masters Award

Philip Biggs and Richard Franklin are delighted to announce that the celebrated Euphonium Soloist,
Trevor Groom will receive this year’s Masters Dedicated Service Award, which will be presented
to him at the conclusion of the All England Masters International Championship which takes place
at the Corn Exchange, Cambridge on Sunday 25th May.

Trevor was for many years the Solo Euphonium player with GUS (Footwear) Band which was
conducted by Stanley Boddington and he was seen both nationally and internationally as one of the
foremost brass soloists. The first concerto for Euphonium was composed especially for Trevor in
1972 by Joseph Horovitz and performed by him at the Royal Albert Hall.

Trevor hails from Kettering Salvation Army and as well as playing with the Citadel Band has also
been a member of the Virtuosi Band conducted by Eric Ball and Kings of Brass.

Tickets for both the Championship and Gala Concert are available from the Corn Exchange Box
Office, telephone 01223 357851.
