NCH Cymru,
the children’s charity is calling on all brass, wind and jazz groups to
volunteer just a few hours of time to display their talents as part of a
North Wales Christmas musical extravaganza.
The charity is setting up the NCH Cymru Band
Carol-A-Thon, which will entail bands playing a few Christmas favourites
to spread the festive cheer, whilst fundraising for NCH Cymru’s
extensive work across Wales. The event follows on from many previous
successful carol playing Christmas events organised by the charity.
NCH Cymru has been supporting disadvantaged, vulnerable and disabled
children and young people in Wales since 1911. The charity now runs over
60 projects in Wales, with 21 across
North Wales from Caernarfon and Llangefni to Connah' s Quay and
Newtown.
Abigail Henderson, Senior Fundraising Executive for NCH Cyrmu North
Wales said: “Last year we had a fantastic turn out from Royal Oakeley,
raising £346 from one performance for our projects here in North Wales.
There were numerous compliments from Christmas shoppers and visitors,
who commented on how much they had enjoyed the carols. We are now asking
for all music groups interested in taking part in our 2008 Band
Carol-A-Thon to sign up now so that we can issue permits in good time.”
