Trinity Soloist Competition

Trinity College of Music is proud to announce the winner of its 2008 Soloists’ Competition.  Tenor Trombonist and 3rd Year BMus student Hari Eustice was honoured with the College’s most prestigious award on 13 May following his outstanding performance of Tomasi’s Trombone Concerto in the competition final at St. John’s, Smith Square, SW1.  He will be performing at Blackheath Halls on the 22nd May.  This is the first time a brass player has won the competition, which started in 2001.

 

Finalists 3rd year BMus pianist Johannes Mnich and violinist Tadasuke Iijima, studying on the TCM Flexible Programme of Study, played Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major and Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D, Op 77 respectively.  The finalists were accompanied by the TCM Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Cleobury and the adjudicating panel was chaired by Ralph Allwood.  The concert was dedicated to the memory of Lady Evelyn Barbirolli, a much loved supporter of the College and the wife of Trinity’s former president Sir John Barbirolli.

 

At TCM Hari Eustice studies with Head of Brass Studies Roger Argente (Principal Bass Trombone - Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), Graham Lee (Principal Trombone - Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) and Mark Templeton (Principal Trombone - London Philharmonic Orchestra).  Hari will perform at Blackheath Halls on the 22nd May at 7.30 during the Trinity College of Music Prize Winner’s Concert.  The concert will also feature highlighted performances from each faculty at TCM.  For tickets please contact the Blackheath Halls Box Office on 020 8463 0100.  For more information please see www.tcm.ac.uk/whatson
